Financial mattersThe total cost per delegate is $220.00 for delegates from developed countries. For students from developing countries of Africa, Asia and South America, the total cost is R1600-00 (South African Rands). The cost includes all meals, accommodation, entrance fees, transport during the excursion, and shuttle services to and from the airport. The abbreviated version of the accounts are presented below. It should be noted that the Rand / dollar exchange rate fluctuated widely during the period 8 months prior to the event (November 2001: R8.40 to 1$US; April 2002: R13.00 to 1$US; June 2002 R10.00 to 1$US) Some profit was made due largely to weaker South African Rand exchange rate. The organizers will present this money to the South African Geographical Society to establish a national geography Olympiad to put the country in a better position to develop a team for the forthcoming IGU Olympiad. We are pleased to have this assistance.
