InvitationDear colleague, On behalf of the Tunisian Association of Geographers, I am pleased to invite your country to send a team to the seventh International Geography Olympiad (IGEO Carthage 2008), which will be held in Carthage, Tunisia August 7 -12, 2008. The IGEO test contains three components: a written response test, a multimedia test and a considerable fieldwork exercise. English is the official language of the IGEO. A country’s team will be made up of three secondary school students between the ages of 16 and 19 years of age (inclusive) on June 30, 2008. They will be accompanied by two adults who are involved in geography education in their country. If space allows, countries may be offered the opportunity to add a fourth student team member. This would be advised when countries are notified of the acceptance of their application. Countries are responsible for their own travel expenses, visas and insurance. In addition, a contribution of 350 Euros (per person) is payable as a contribution to local expenses. As well as the tests, excursions will be arranged. We are very excited about showing you the beautiful attractions of our country. The guidelines under which the IGEO Carthage 2008 will operate, a draft programme and application form is included on this website. Please send back the application form no later than January 3, 2008. Countries which participated in the 2004 or 2006 competitions, and which have selected their team through a national competition, will be automatically accepted for the 2008 IGEO if they apply by January, 3. The other countries will be selected for the competition in the order their applications are received if they have chosen their team through a national competition. If you need a formal written invitation to the IGEO Carthage 2008, please email me the name, position and address of the person to whom the letter should be sent. We look forward to welcoming you to Carthage 2008. Yours sincerely, Zouhaier HLAOUI |
